Giant Robo assists
the warriors of Mount Liang

This retro-futuristic anime, inspired by Mitsuteru Yokoyama's manga of the same title, is set largely in a 2039 China that is simultaneously medieval, modern, and futuristic, where dirigibles, skyscrapers and trains co-exist with Taoist sorcerers and warriors on horseback.

A Japanese child Daisaku Kusama, recruited into the International Police Organization for his unique ability to command a powerful robot, goes to China to support the Beijing/Peking branch of the IPO. There he meets a colorful team of colleagues, many of them based on well-known characters from the Chinese classical novels Romance of the Three Kingdoms and Water Margin (aka Outlaws of the Marsh).

Daxiong's Water Margin series

Angoulême International Comics Festival honoree Daxiong reinterprets the 12th century Chinese classic Water Margin. Water Margin, aka Outlaws of the Marsh, retells the legends surrounding a group of 10th century outlaws, from their fantastical origin as 108 ancient spirits released into the world, to their involvement in human history.

Giovanni Manna's illustrations for "The Barefoot Book of Giants, Ghosts and Goblins"

The Barefoot Book of Giants, Ghosts and Goblins is John Matthew's retelling of nine traditional supernatural tales from around the world. 5 stories out of the 9 stories are from non-European cultures, specifically Cheyenne, Hausa, Chinese, Evenk and aboriginal Australian. The illustrator is Giovanni Manna.

In 'Little Ooyani', the Evenk hero makes himself iron wings to confront the cloud-dwelling demon who devoured his people.

One reason that this blog hasn't featured many East Asian characters yet is because East Asians aren't exactly under-represented in fantasy art, IMHO.
