Trina Schart Hyman's illustrations for "Sense Pass King"

The late Trina Schart Hyman illustrated her daughter's children's book Sense Pass King: A Story from Cameroon. Hyman's daughter Katrin Tchana married a man from Cameroon, who told her the story of a boy genius named "Sense Pass King". Katrin Tchana gender-switched the protagonist in this English-language adaptation of the tale.

Priya's Shakti

Ram Devineni and Rattapallax, Inc produced Priya’s Shakti, the story of Hindu Gods lending their support to Priya, a young rape victim who breaks her silence and moves others to take action for women's empowerment.
This fictional tale, created in response to the epidemic of gender-based violence, is told through an Augmented Reality comic book and street art.

David Bergen's cover illustrations for The Earthsea Quartet

One of the few Earthsea book cover artists who actually depict Ged and Tehanu as people of color. The author Ursula Le Guin describes Ged as "reddish dark", and the Gontish people in general as red-skinned.

Michel Ocelot's "Kirikou and the Wild Beasts"

Kirikou and the Wild Beasts is the 2005 followup to Ocelot's 1998 Kirikou and the Sorceress. This  anthology of stories takes place within the Kirikou and the Sorceress timeline. Each episodes narrates Kirikou's ways of circumventing the Sorceress' oppressive tactics, or how the infant hero creatively manages human conflicts with wildlife.
