One reason that this blog hasn't featured many East Asian characters yet is because East Asians aren't exactly under-represented in fantasy art, IMHO. I'm sure others will disagree, but given the popularity of local mythology-influenced manga/manhua/manhwa and games in their native lands, the global reach of anime, as well as the Western fascination with the East in the form of numerous East Asian-themed games and fictional works etc, I would argue that East Asian characters are far from invisible. But whether such representations are appropriative, or balanced, or accurate are another matter, which can be argued on a case-by-case basis.

However, one genre in which East Asians (and non-Europeans  in general) have less of a presence is steampunk. Hong Kong-born concept artist James Ng fills the void with his Qing Dynasty Imperial Steamworks series.
